The print & packaging machine operator is responsible for the efficient operation of print and packaging equipment throughout the butter production department. This individual is expected to conduct themselves in a matter which promotes the continuous improvement of Grassland’s mission for quality, safety and efficient production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Comply with applicable good manufacturing, safety and quality assurance practices
- Verify quality control items such as product weights, coding and packaging
- Perform assembly, disassembly, cleaning and sanitizing of print and packaging equipment
- Maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping
- Operate print and packaging equipment at an efficient level to fulfill plant goals and objectives
- Diagnose and troubleshoot basic machine malfunctions
- Assist with general cleaning and housekeeping throughout the facility
- Follow standard operating procedures and complete necessary training elements and competencies
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor, backfill throughout department as needed

- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to adapt effectively within a continually changing and demanding environment
- Demonstrate an understanding of the products manufactured and the processes involved
- Establish an understanding of product flows and the relationship between upstream and downstream equipment and processes involved
- Basic understanding of machine operations and troubleshooting ability
- Must be able to demonstrate an ability and willingness to communicate effectively in order to maintain high levels of safety, quality and efficiency
- Ability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures and company guidelines in order to maintain regulatory compliance
- Ability to prioritize and effectively operate multiple machines and processes simultaneously
- Demonstrate an understanding of product flows and understanding of the relationship between both upstream and downstream processes and equipment
- Ability to work with sanitation chemicals common to the food manufacturing industry
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing and industrial machine operation experience preferred
